Prof. Satoshi and Rie especially want them to stay with Christian families, since this is a rare experience for them to meet American Christians. They attend church with you Sunday morning. The students are all in Mrs. Ohta's after-school English classes. I got to visit the Ohta's two years ago and meet some of the past students we hosted, many of them told me how wonderful their stay here was, and how it changed their lives. They are usually extremely polite quiet, and considerate and bring cute gifts.

Hello Peggy-san,

It's been a long time. Rie plans to take her 5 students -- 3 girls and 2 boys -- to California again this spring.
Our tentative schedule is as follows:

March 25 (Sat): Arriving at San Francisco International Airport (SFO). [Hotel stay]
March 26 (Sun): Visiting Santa Clala Valley Japanese Christian Church.Visiting Stanford University. [Hotel stay]
March 27 (Mon): Sightseeing in San Francisco. [Hotel stay]
March 28 (Tues): Going to Yosemite NP. [Hotel stay]
March 29 (Wed): Going back to Santa Cruz. [Home-stay if possible]
March 30 (Thur): Staying and hiking in Santa Cruz and the surroundings.   [Home-stay if possible]
March 31 (Fri): Visiting Bay View School. Visiting UCSC. [Home-stay if possible]
April 1 (Sat): Having fun at Board Walk. Shopping at a mall. Going to SF. [Hotel stay]
April 2 (Sun): Leaving SFO, going back to Japan.
April 3 (Mon): Arriving at home.

Is it possible for you to manage to find host-families for 3 nights? Your kind cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Best,
Satoshi Ohta

PAST YEARS--
2016
Prof. Satoshi-san writes:

The rough schedule of our visit is as follows:
March 26: Arriving at The San Francisco International Airport (SFO).
March 26 - 28: Visiting UC Berkeley, Stanford University,
Santa Clara Valley Japanese Christian Church,
Fisherman’s Wharf, Alcatraz Island, China Town, etc. [Hotel-stays]
  • March 29 - 30: Going to Yosemite NP [Hotel-stay]
  • March 30 - 31: Going to Monterey [Hotel-stay]
  • March 31 (afternoon): Arriving at Santa Cruz/your house.
  • March 31 night - April 3 (till noon): Homestays (if possible)
  • April 4: Leaving SFO for Japan.
As for school visit(s), since the students’ fluency-level of English
is not so high (I mean that they would not be able to discuss
some topics eagerly/studiously with American high-school or
junior-high-school students in English), I think that visiting
only Bay View School, for example, would be enough.

Best,

Satoshi Ohta
